FRED Shock Summary
The supplied observations show a modest decline in Treasury yields alongside largely unchanged overnight policy-linked and bank-funding rates. SOFR fell 3 basis points to 3.62%, while EFFR and OBFR were unchanged at 3.63% and IORB remained at 3.65%. This altered the relative positioning of the overnight rates: SOFR moved from 2 basis points above EFFR on August 6 to 1 basis point below it on August 7, while EFFR and OBFR remained aligned. The change is therefore concentrated in secured overnight financing rather than visible as a broad one-day shift across all supplied overnight benchmarks.
Treasury yields declined across the maturity structure, but the decline was largest at the front end. The 2-year yield fell 6 basis points from 4.25% to 4.19%, the 10-year fell 4 basis points from 4.69% to 4.65%, and the 30-year fell 3 basis points from 5.22% to 5.19%. Consistent with those relative moves, the supplied 10-year-minus-2-year spread increased from 0.44 percentage point to 0.46 percentage point. The curve therefore became modestly steeper between two and ten years because the 2-year yield declined more than the 10-year yield, not because long yields rose.
The 10-year inflation-indexed Treasury yield declined 3 basis points to 2.40%, close to the 4-basis-point fall in the nominal 10-year yield. The simple difference between the supplied nominal and real 10-year rates moved from about 2.26 percentage points to about 2.25 percentage points. Mechanically, this indicates that most of the one-day decline in the nominal 10-year yield was matched by a decline in the real yield, while the nominal-real differential changed very little.
Credit spreads were notably stable or slightly narrower. The broad investment-grade corporate option-adjusted spread remained at 0.78%, and the BBB spread remained at 0.97%. The broad high-yield spread narrowed by 1 basis point to 2.70%, while BB also narrowed by 1 basis point to 1.60%. CCC-and-lower narrowed by 4 basis points to 10.13%. Thus, the supplied credit measures do not show a simultaneous widening accompanying the Treasury rally. At the same time, the absolute spread for CCC-and-lower remained far above those for BB, BBB, and the broad investment-grade index, preserving a large cross-quality differentiation within corporate credit.
The Chicago Fed National Financial Conditions Index moved from -0.54 on July 31 to -0.55 on August 7, a small 0.01-point move further into negative territory. Taken strictly as supplied, that is a marginal weekly change rather than a large shift. Overall, the deterministic FRED snapshot is characterized by stable overnight administered and effective rates, a lower SOFR fixing, declining Treasury yields with modest 2s10s steepening, a small decline in the nominal-real 10-year differential, and credit spreads that were flat to slightly narrower rather than materially repriced.

Yahoo Shock Summary
The supplied cross-asset closes show broadly positive performance across many of the observed instruments on August 7, but with meaningful dispersion inside technology equities and much larger moves in some crypto-linked stocks than in the underlying Bitcoin price. The CSI 300 rose 0.93% to 4694.44. Among the listed U.S. and semiconductor-related equities, AAPL gained 0.29%, AMZN 0.82%, ASML 2.15%, and AVGO 1.71%, while AMD fell 1.21%. That mix indicates that the positive equity tone in this limited sample was not uniform: semiconductor exposure in particular ranged from a 2.15% gain in ASML and 1.71% gain in AVGO to a 1.21% decline in AMD.
Crypto-related assets were stronger, but equity sensitivity exceeded the move in Bitcoin itself. Bitcoin rose 0.96% to 64,880.19, while COIN advanced 5.63% and BMNR gained 2.84%. Within this supplied set, COIN was the largest percentage mover. The difference between Bitcoin’s sub-1% gain and COIN’s 5.63% rise illustrates substantial one-day dispersion between the underlying crypto asset and listed equities associated with the sector; the observations alone do not establish the reason for that difference.
Energy prices also moved higher. Brent crude rose 1.29% to 83.55 and WTI rose 1.15% to 78.18. The two benchmarks therefore moved in the same direction and by similar magnitudes, with Brent slightly outperforming WTI in percentage terms. The broader DBC commodity fund, however, gained only 0.17%, substantially less than either oil benchmark. This indicates that the strength visible in crude oil was not mirrored at the same magnitude by the broader commodity instrument included in the packet.
The dollar measures weakened modestly. DXY fell 0.37% to 99.60. USD/CNH declined 0.07% to 6.74, which mechanically corresponds to a very small strengthening of the offshore renminbi against the dollar because fewer renminbi were required per U.S. dollar. The changes therefore point in the same broad direction for the dollar in these two supplied currency observations, although the USD/CNH move was much smaller than the DXY move.
The aggregate U.S. bond ETF AGG increased 0.17% to 97.60. Its positive close occurred alongside gains in the CSI 300, several large technology names, Bitcoin, crypto-linked equities, and crude oil, while the dollar index declined. Consequently, this packet does not present a simple pattern in which only one conventional asset group advanced while another uniformly weakened. Instead, gains were distributed across bonds, several equity exposures, crypto, and energy, with the principal exceptions in the listed sample being AMD and the U.S. dollar measures. The most notable feature of the day is therefore cross-sectional dispersion: relatively modest changes in AAPL, AGG, DBC, and currencies; stronger gains in ASML, AVGO, Brent, and WTI; a decline in AMD; and an outsized 5.63% rise in COIN relative to the approximately 1% move in Bitcoin.
